Kelly Paul Oubre Jr. (born December 9, 1995 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American basketball player who plays on the position of small forward for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA .

Career

Kelly Oubre Jr. played one year for the Jayhawks of the University of Kansas and enlisted in the NBA Draft 2015 on. There he was selected in 15th position by the Atlanta Hawks . The rights to Oubre were then transferred to the Washington Wizards in exchange with Jerian Grant and future second round picks . He made his first appearance in the NBA on November 6, 2015 in the game against the Boston Celtics , in which he collected seven points, two rebounds and two assists in 14 minutes. On December 16, 2016, he scored 18 points against the San Antonio Spurs , his season high in points in his first season 2015/16 .

In his second season of 2016/17 , Oubres doubled his playing time per game from 10 minutes in the preseason to 20. On November 28, 2016, he scored the first double-double of his career against the Sacramento Kings . On December 10, Oubre topped his high in points, in the game against the Milwaukee Bucks , with 19 points.

In the 2017/18 season , Oubre's playing time increased again to 27.5 minutes per game. On January 19, 2018, he scored 26 points against the Detroit Pistons .

On December 15, 2018, Oubre Jr. and Austin Rivers were traded for Trevor Ariza at the Phoenix Suns .
