Klaus Rose (politician)

Klaus Theophil Rose (born December 7, 1941 in Augsburg ) is a German politician ( CSU ). From 1974 to 1977 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament , from 1977 to 2005 a member of the German Bundestag and from 1997 to 1998 Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Defense .

Life

After graduating from high school in Passau in 1961 , Rose did basic military service in the German armed forces until 1962 . He then studied history and English at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1968 he passed the state examination for teaching at secondary schools; in the same year he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . From 1968 to 1974 he worked as a teacher at high schools in Munich, Freyung and Vilshofen . He also studied politics and economics at LMU for four semesters.

Rose joined the Junge Union and the CSU in 1961 . From 1971 to 1977 he was chairman of the JU district association of Lower Bavaria, from 1971 to 1981 chairman of the CSU local association in Vilshofen and from 1981 to 1997 chairman of the CSU district association of Passau-Land. From 1995 to 2005 he acted as the deputy district chairman of the CSU Niederbayern.

From 1972 to 1990 Rose was a member of the Vilshofener city council and from 1972 to 2008 he was a district councilor in Passau . In the 1974 state elections he was elected to the Bavarian state parliament, to which he was a member until April 26, 1977.

From March 24, 1977, when he replaced the late MP Alex Hösl , Rose was a member of the German Bundestag for eight electoral terms until 2005 . He was represented in several committees and bodies of the Bundestag, including the Defense Committee and the Budget Committee . He chaired the Defense Committee from 1994 to 1997. From January 22, 1997 to October 26, 1998 he was Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defense after his predecessor Michaela Geiger was elected Vice President of the German Bundestag on January 16, 1998. From 2003 he was chairman of the parliamentary circle of friends "Berlin-Taipei" .

In the Bundestag he represented the constituency of Passau from the 1980 Bundestag election . In the dispute with Gerlinde Kaupa and Andreas Scheuer about the direct mandate there, he was defeated by Scheuer in 2005 and then no longer stood for election to the 16th German Bundestag.

Klaus Rose lives in Vilshofen on the Danube.
