Klaus W. Krause

Klaus Willi Krause (born May 2, 1903 in Berlin ; † 1981 ) was a German actor , radio play and voice actor .

Life

Krause was born as Willy Hermann Krause. In 1927, the Berlin-Neukölln District Court gave him permission to use the first name Klaus. Krause received his artistic training at the Reicher University of Dramatic Art and initially appeared as a theater actor in his hometown, at the city theater in Koblenz and at the theater in Bremen . From 1933 to 1943 he was engaged at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . His last engagement before the war led him to that of Alexander Golling led Bavarian State Theater of Munich . The first theater engagements after 1945 brought Krause to Cologne at the Städtische Bühnen (1946–1947) and again to Munich at the Young Theater (1947–1948). From 1949 he also worked in small supporting roles in cinema and television productions.

However, he was mainly active as a voice actor. From the late 1950s onwards, he was a particularly frequent speaker of Jean Gabin , including in Balduin, the Night Ghost (1968), The Sicilian Clan (1969), The Cat (1971) and Endstation Schafott (1973). He also dubbed Fernandel several times, such as B. Revered Don Camillo (1961). Gregory Peck gave his voice to Calling The Wild (1947) and Moby Dick (1956). Other actors he dubbed include William Powell ( No Time for Heroism , 1955), Thomas Mitchell ( The Lower Ten Thousands , 1961), Edward G. Robinson ( My Geisha , 1962), and Boris Karloff ( Moving Targets , 1968). In the field of animation he spoke among others the Miraculix in Asterix the Gaul (1967) and Asterix and Cleopatra (1968) as well as butler Edgar in Aristocats (1970).

He was also used as a speaker in many radio plays, for example in 1959 in Paul Temple and the Conrad case , the only Paul Temple radio play produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk . Krause also played a role in Dickie Dick Dickens and a radio play version of I often think of Piroschka .
