Upałty Małe ( German Klein Upalten ) is a settlement in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Giżycko ( rural community Lötzen ) in the powiat Giżycki (district Lötzen ).
Geographical location
Upałty Małe is located in the north-east of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , nine kilometers south-east of the district town of Giżycko (Lötzen) .
history
Originally, Klein Upalten (around 1818 also Klein Uppalten ) consisted only of a large farm. As a place of residence of the community (Groß) Upalten ( Polish: Upałty ) it was considered an inherited property with two fireplaces for 12 souls around 1800 . In 1905 the small town had 29 inhabitants.
As a result of the war, the place came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish name form "Upałty Małe". Today it is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish sołectwo ) and a settlement (osada) within the Gmina Giżycko (rural community of Lötzen ) in the powiat Giżycki (district of Lötzen ), before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
church
Evangelical
Until 1945, Klein Upalten was parish in the Evangelical Parish Church of Lötzen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today the Upałty Małe settlement belongs to the Evangelical Parish Church in Giżycko in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
Catholic
Before 1945 assigned to the Catholic parish church of St. Bruno Lötzen in the Diocese of Warmia , Upałty Małe received its own chapel in the period after 1945 , which is incorporated into the parish of Bystry (Biestern) . It belongs to the diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland .
traffic
Upałty Małe can be reached from Upałty (Upalten) on the voivodship road DW 655 , at the same time connected to the neighboring villages Kożuchy Wielkie (Groß Kosuchen , 1938 to 1945 Allenbruch) and Kruklin (Kruglinnen , 1938 to 1945 Kraukel) via a side road.
There is no longer a rail link today. Until 1945 there was a connection to the Lötzen – Johannisburg railway via the Upalten station , and until 1987 it was also connected to the Lötzen – Kruglanken (Giżycko – Kruklanki) railway via the Groß Kosuchen (Allenbruch) station . Both routes were discontinued as a result of the war or for reasons of unprofitability.
