Antonowo ( German  Antonowen , 1938-1945 Antonsdorf ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . He belongs to the Gmina Giżycko ( rural community Lötzen ) in the powiat Giżycki (district Lötzen ).

Geographical location

Antonowo is located on the north-western border of the city of Giżycko (Lötzen) in the north-east of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

history

The elongated village of Antonowen was founded in 1836 as a Vorwerk to Pierkunowen (1935-1945 Perkunen, Polish Pierkunowo ). It thus belonged to the district of Lötzen in the administrative district of Gumbinnen (1905–1945 administrative district of Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia . From around 1928 it was a Vorwerk in the town of Lötzen. In 1905 the place had 41 inhabitants.

On June 3 (officially confirmed on July 16) of the year 1938 Antonowen was renamed Antonsdorf . As a result of the war, the place came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of name Antonowo . Today it is a village in the Gmina Giżycko (rural community Lötzen ) in the powiat Giżycki ( Lötzen district ), until 1998 part of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Religions

Until 1945 Antonowen was parish in the Evangelical Parish Church of Lötzen in the church province of East Prussia of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Parish Church of St. Bruno Lötzen in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Antonowo belongs to the parish pw św. Kazimierza Królewicza in Giżycko in the Diocese of Ełk (Lyck) of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland and to the Evangelical Parish Church in Giżycko in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

Antonowo is conveniently located three kilometers from the city center Giżycko on a land route that leads to Pierkunowo (Pierkunowen , 1935-1945 Perkunen) . There is no train connection.
