history
The small village Poganten , which was created as a Vorwerk , essentially consisted of a medium-sized courtyard and was a village in the manor district of Pierkunowen until 1945 (1935 to 1945 Perkunen, in Polish Pierkunowo). The mother community was Amtsdorf and belonged to the district of Lötzen in the administrative district of Gumbinnen (1905 to 1945 administrative district of Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 the place had 43 inhabitants.
As a result of the war, the small town came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and since then has borne the Polish name "Poganty". Today it is part of the Gmina Giżycko (rural community Lötzen ) in the powiat Giżycki ( Lötzen district ), before 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
