Konrad von Himberg (also Konrad von Hintberg ; † January 10, 1292 in Vienna ) was 1279–1292 Bishop of Chiemsee .

Life

Konrad came from the Babenberg ministerial family von Himberg . He was Canon of Passau and clerk of the chamberlain Otto von Liechtenstein . After the Chiemsee Bishop Johann von Ennsthal had been transferred to Gurk in 1279 , the Salzburg Archbishop Friedrich II von Walchen appointed Konrad von Himberg as his successor. The episcopal ordination took place on May 5, 1280 in Vienna.

In addition to his bishopric, Konrad von Himberg also acted as auxiliary bishop in Salzburg. In this position he also carried out official acts outside of his district. As an important advisor to the Archbishops of Walchen and from 1284 by his successor Rudolf von Hoheneck , his work is documented several times. In 1281 and 1288 he took part in the Salzburg Provincial Councils and in 1283 he took part in the negotiations between Archbishop Friedrich Walchen and the Bavarian Duke Heinrich of Bavaria in Raitenhaslach . In 1286 he took part in talks in Augsburg that took place between Archbishop Rudolf von Hoheneck and Duke Heinrich on the one hand and King Rudolf von Habsburg on the other. 1289 he was in Wels in the peace negotiations with Duke Albrecht of Austria to the counselors of Rudolf von Hoheneck. For his successor, Konrad IV von Fohnsdorf , he negotiated with Duke Albrecht in Vienna in 1291. During the conflict over the occupation of the Salzburg bishopric between the applicants Konrad von Fohnsdorf and Duke Stephan of Bavaria , Konrad von Himberg intervened as a mediator. The conflict could be resolved through an alliance with Duke Stephen's brother Duke Otto von Bayern .

As early as 1287, Konrad von Himberg designated Salzburg Cathedral as his grave site. After his death in 1292 he was buried there in front of the Andreas altar.
