The Lake Easton State Park is a State Park in Kittitas County in the US state of Washington . The 209 hectare park is located on Lake Easton in the foothills of the Cascade Range in a valley formed by glaciers, northwest of the settlement of Easton and 15 miles east of Snoqualmie Pass . Lake Easton is a 111 acre reservoir of the Yakima River . The dam, the Easton Diversion Dam , is a 20 m high and 579 m long gravity dam made of concrete. Lake Easton is about 1.6 km long and has a capacity of 6.1 million cubic meters. The Kachess River , the drain of Kachess Lake , also flows into the lake . The Easton Diversion Dam was completed in 1928 by the Bureau of Reclamation as part of the Yakima Project for the artificial irrigation of the Yakima Valley. The land for the park was purchased by the state in five parts between 1961 and 1991 for a total of $ 1,435,809.

The park area is partly still forested with a primeval forest of Douglas firs , giant trees and Western American hemlocks . The park has a year-round campground with over 130 pitches and 7.3 km of shoreline to Lake Easton. There is a boat ramp, a six-meter-long jetty and a swimming area on the lakeshore. Nine kilometers of trails run through the park, which are used as hiking trails in summer and cross-country skiing slopes in winter. On the south side of the lake is the former railway line of Milwaukee Road , which is now part of Iron Horse State Park and a popular hiking trail.
