Lewis is an unincorporated town in Essex County in the US state of Vermont . It had no residents at the last census in 2010. Lewis formally became a town with its own administration, but the town was never constituted. The town is administered by the Unified Towns & Gores of Essex County . It is part of the Berlin Micropolitan Statistical Area .

Geographical location
Lewis is in north Essex County. The Nulhegan River flows through the northeast corner of the town in a southerly direction, and there are other small streams. There are several lakes in the town area, the largest being Lewis Pond to the west of the town. The surface of the northern part is very hilly, one of the highest elevations in the central part is the 776 m high Lewis Mountain . The southern part is rather swampy.

history
Lewis was founded on June 29, 1762 as one of the New Hampshire Grants by Benning Wentworth . The grant was one of several that Samuel Averill received along with other speculators. This town was named after Timothy Lewis, who was one of the grant recipients for neighboring Wenlock, the northern part of the town of Ferdinand and Maidstone.
The town was not really settled, there was never a post office or settlement. In its history there were only eight inhabitants in the 1900 census. There was never a constituent assembly of the town either.
