Lebanon has not yet participated in the Eurovision Song Contest .

The Lebanese television station Télé Liban initially registered for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 and selected the singer Aline Lahoud internally to represent the country with the French-language ballad Quand tout s'enfuit (written by Jad Rahbani). Then, however, there were disputes with the competition organizers from the European Broadcasting Union , who, after press reports about the expected fading out of the Israeli contribution on Lebanese television, demanded that Télé-Liban broadcast the entire competition, including the Israeli contribution. However, Télé-Liban could not guarantee this, as it contradicted the Lebanese legal situation according to official information, and so participation was withdrawn. Since the withdrawal only took place after the set deadline, Télé-Liban still had to pay the full participation fee plus a penalty, the amount of which was not published. The country was also excluded from the Eurovision Song Contest for the next three years .

Due to the possible non-participation of Israel, Lebanese television showed interest in participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna for the first time. Since Israel subsequently confirmed their participation, Télé Liban decided not to take part in the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
