Alte Emscher pumping station |
Beeck Alsumer Strasse 7 map |
Designed by Alfred Fischer , the "Alte Emscher A" pumping station was the first of the Emschergenossenschaft . Due to the low location of the Emscher , the water of which was polluted at the beginning of the 20th century and therefore hazardous to health, as well as the subsidence due to mining, there were many floods. To prevent this, the circular building, internal diameter 41 m, was built. The freely spanned concrete dome building is 24.5 meters high. | 1914 | 8 Sep 1999 |

Matena tunnel |
Bruckhausen Matenastraße map |
The road of Matenastraße goes back to a historical, verifiable already in pre-industrial times (1727) connection to the peasantry Bruckhausen. With the establishment of the Union of German Emperors , today's Thyssenkrupp factory, the course of the road was changed and a tunnel was necessary to maintain the connection between Bruckhausen and what was then the village of Alsum . The 400 meter long road tunnel contained tram tracks on the lane in the direction of Bruckhausen until 1965, when the structure lost its importance with the Alsums exit . | 1909-1912 | Jan. 17, 2012 |
