former catholic school | Altstadt Niederstrasse 3 map |
three-story brick building with a flat gable roof and an almost square floor plan. After industrial workers' families moved in, the first school building built on the monastery grounds in 1778 was expanded. The Catholic primary school initially comprised ten classrooms and apartments for the principal and caretaker, but the latter had to be abandoned in 1909 due to the increasing number of pupils. The destruction of World War II was repaired in 1950, after which the building was used for municipal administrative purposes. Since 1980 it has been using the International Center of the Adult Education Center with offices and for training purposes for foreign citizens. | 1893 | July 7, 1994 |
