from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of international matches of the Saarland national soccer team contains all the games of the Saarland national soccer team between 1950 and 1956. The senior national team played a total of 19 international matches during this time; Of these, she won six games, drew three times and lost the remaining ten games. In addition to five and ten friendly matches against A and B national teams, Saarland played four qualifying matches for the 1954 World Cup . Overall, the national team scored 36 goals and conceded 54 goals. In addition, the Saarland B national team played a game in May 1955, which they won 4-2.

Two and a half years after the end of the Second World War, Saarland became politically independent on December 17, 1947 when the constitution came into force . The Saarland Football Association (SFB) was founded on July 25, 1948 in Sulzbach . In July 1949, he refused to join the French football association and in April 1950 applied for admission to the world football association FIFA . On June 22, 1950 - and thus three months before the German Football Association (DFB) - the Saarland Football Association was finally accepted as a member of the World Football Association at the FIFA Congress in Rio de Janeiro with 18 votes in favor and 16 abstentions. The national team was initially trained by Auguste Jordan , from January 1, 1952, Helmut Schön took over as coach. In October 1955, two thirds of the Saarlanders rejected the Second Saar Statute in the referendum ; this was viewed as an expression of will to join the Federal Republic of Germany. As the reintegration process progressed, Helmut Schön signed a contract with the DFB in May 1956 as Sepp Herberger's assistant coach ; on July 8, the SFB was renamed "Saarländischer Fußballverband" (SFV) and applied for resumption of membership in the Federal German Football Association, which was decided on July 28, 1956 in Duisburg . At the beginning of 1957, the Saarland became the tenth federal state to join the Federal Republic of Germany and thus lost its political independence.
