The Greek national soccer team on November 17, 2010 in Vienna during the international match against Austria

This list contains all of the official FIFA- sponsored matches played by the Greek national football team . So far, the Greeks have qualified for the European Football Championships in 1980 , 2004 , 2008 and 2012 . Of course, the surprising 2004 European title against Portugal stands out. Only in the EM in 1964 they did not take part. The reason was the qualifying opponent Albania with which Greece was still at war at the time . The appearances at the soccer world championships in 1994 and 2010 were crowned with little success. Both times they were eliminated in the group stage after a total of six games with a win and three points and 2:15 goals. At the 2014 World Cup, however, they made it to the round of 16 for the first time.
