List of the international matches of the national football team of the USSR

This list includes all of the official FIFA- run games of the Soviet team and the men's CIS. After the establishment of the Soviet Union , FIFA banned its member countries from playing games against the USSR. Only Turkey resisted the order. In the 1920s and 30s, 15 games were played, of which the World Football Association only recognized the first two games in 1924 and 1925. After joining FIFA in 1946, it was another eight years before the USSR's next international match against Sweden in September 1954 . After the collapse of the Soviet Union in December 1991, the team started under the name of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). She made her last game on June 18, 1992 at the European Football Championship in the group game against Scotland . The USSR was the first European team to play against El Salvador (1970), Colombia (1962 World Cup) and North Korea (1966 World Cup).

  5. The USSR refused to compete in the Estadio Nacional de Chile . It served as a concentration camp for several thousand opposition members during the military coup in September 1973 . Torture and murders took place in the stadium. FIFA refused to move the game to another location . The game was then rated by the World Football Federation with 2-0 goals and points for Chile. On the scheduled game date, the game was kicked off anyway, but without an opponent. After the first goal for Chile, the Austrian referee Erich Linemayr whistled off the game immediately because there were no opposing players who could have kicked off.
