This building was commissioned by Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau around 1600. For himself he had the Gabriel Chapel built as a mausoleum in this Campo Santo, based on a design by Elia Castello . It has impressive arcades with the burial places of Salzburg families, many famous Salzburg personalities are also buried here (e.g. Mozart's widow, Constanze Nissen or Theophrast von Hohenheim , i.e. Paracelsus).
