The embassy is located at José Benito Lamas 2857 in Montevideo.

history

In 1834 the Kingdom of Sardinia had a consular representative in Montevideo and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal States followed .

From 1861 the residence of the representative of the Kingdom of Italy, accredited in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, changed between these two cities.

The Alfredo Baldomir government followed the decisions of the Pan American Conference in Rio de Janeiro and ended relations with the Axis powers, including fascist Italy, on January 31, 1942. Diplomatic relations were resumed in April 1946.
