List of the natural spatial units in the Eichsfeld

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eichsfeld geology has a relatively simple structure, it is mainly influenced by the formation of the triad with the rock types of red sandstone and of the shell limestone . With its elevations and valleys, one can still find diverse landscape forms, which as a border area are divided not only territorially but also in natural areas into the three large natural areas of the Thuringian Basin , the East Hessian Upland and the Weser-Leine Upland.

Different classification systems are available for the natural spatial classification:

Structure according to the manual

Main units of the northern low mountain range with the Eichsfeld in the middle

The Eichsfeld lies between the Harz , Thuringian Forest and the Werra as part of Germany's low mountain range :

The landscape of the Eichsfeld is divided according to the manual as follows, whereby according to more recent classifications the areas west of the Eichenberg – Gotha – Saalfeld fault zone (Gobert and others) are included in the Werrabergland:

Landscapes of the Eichsfeld (framed in yellow)

The affiliation of the Eichsfeld to the individual natural areas is very different and ranges from only minimally on the edge area (landscapes marked with an asterisk *), about half of the area (Gobert, Dün, etc.) to the landscapes completely located in the Eichsfeld (Höheberg, Hellberge, Upper Friedatal area).

Structure according to BfN

In the 1990s, the main unit groups were revised and reorganized on behalf of the BfN . In addition, landscape profiles were created based on the manual for the individual landscapes and natural spaces .

Classification according to TLUG

The Thuringian State Institute for Environment and Geology (TLUG) has a somewhat coarser natural system for the Thuringian landscape, which only divides it nationwide ( The Natural Areas of Thuringia ), within which the Eichsfeld is distributed over the following natural areas:

    • Sheet 112: Kassel (H.-J. Klink 1969)
  2. The eastern parts of the Eichsfeld (Ohmgebirge, Eichsfelder Kessel, eastern Dün) would have been on sheet 113 Sondershausen , the non-appearance of which had already been decided in 1969 and are therefore not described in more detail.
  3. In sheet 99 Göttingen (1963) 374.3 or the part on that sheet was shown as Hellberge ; Sheet 100 Halberstadt (1970), however, already lays the dividing line between Hellbergen (374.30) and Bischofferoder Bergland (374.31) on the section of the Göttingen sheet .
  4. ^ Name on sheet 100 Halberstadt (1970)
  5. Designation on sheet 99 Göttingen (1963)
  6. On sheet 99 Göttingen (1963) 374.5 or the part on that sheet was shown as Rotenberg ; this is not in direct contradiction to sheet 100 Halberstadt (1970), which sees the border from Rotenberg (374.50) to the Silkeroder Hügelland (374.51) entirely on sheet Halberstadt.
