List of Portuguese ambassadors in Iraq

The list of Portuguese ambassadors in Iraq lists the ambassadors of the Republic of Portugal in Iraq .

The first ambassador of Portugal was accredited in 1957 in the Iraqi capital Baghdad . The Portuguese representative in Turkey was double-accredited there until 1976 , after which Portugal opened its own embassy in Baghdad.

In 1992 diplomatic relations were interrupted after the UN resolution on Iraq and the embassy in Baghdad was closed. In 2001 the countries resumed diplomatic relations. Portugal has not yet reopened its own embassy in Iraq, the country belongs to the administrative district of the Portuguese Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (as of 2019).
