List of Portuguese ambassadors in Malaysia

The list of Portuguese ambassadors in Malaysia lists the ambassadors of the Republic of Portugal in Malaysia . The countries have had renewed diplomatic relations since Malaysia's independence in 1957, dating back to the arrival of Portuguese explorers in what is now Malaysia at the beginning of the 16th century. Diogo Lopes de Sequeira was the first Portuguese envoy to Malacca in 1509 , which then became a Portuguese colony from 1511 to 1641 .

A Portuguese ambassador was first accredited in Malaysia in 1978. Portugal did not open its own embassy there, the Portuguese representative in Thailand is still responsible for Malaysia and is accredited for this purpose in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur (as of 2019).

There is or was a Portuguese honorary consulate in Kuala Lumpur .
