List of Portuguese ambassadors in Cambodia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of Portuguese ambassadors in Cambodia lists the ambassadors of the Republic of Portugal in Cambodia . The countries have maintained renewed diplomatic relations since 1957, dating back to the first arrival of Portuguese explorers in what is now Cambodia in the early 16th century.

In protest against the Portuguese colonial wars, Cambodia cut diplomatic relations for some time in 1964.

For the first time , a Portuguese ambassador personally accredited himself to Cambodia in 1996. Portugal did not open its own embassy there, the Portuguese representative in Thailand is still responsible for Cambodia and is accredited for this purpose in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh (as of 2019).
