history

Loch is first mentioned in a document in the Würzburg Lehenbuch from 1303. The bishop awarded Heinrich von Buttendorf, among other things, the tithe of a court in Loch. The place name is derived from the Old High German "loh" (= clearing).

By the end of the 18th century, there were five properties in Loch. The high court and the village and community rulership exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach judicial office in Roßtal . The landlords were the Cadolzburg caste office (2 half yards, 1 estate) and the Deutschordenskommende Nürnberg (2 half yards).

As part of the community edict , Loch was assigned to the Großweismannsdorf tax district formed in 1808 . It belonged to the rural community of Gutzberg , which was founded in the same year .

On July 1, 1972, Loch came to Stein with the community of Gutzberg.
