Johann Wilhelm Ludwig Karl Christian David Thudichum (born August 24, 1798 in Eudorf ; † July 5, 1863 in Rödelheim ) was a Hessian pastor and politician . He was a member of the 1st and 2nd chambers of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

family

The Thudichum family comes from Marbach am Neckar . Friedrich Valentin Thudichum (born March 19, 1754 in Marbach; † June 28, 1818 in Nidda), friends with the Schiller family and distantly related to him through his mother, emigrated from Württemberg in 1778 because he received a frank text about the revelation of Johannes had blocked access to the Württemberg church service. He was first pastor in Eudorf and then inspector ( dean ) in Nidda . Friedrich was married to Magdalena Marie, b. Löber (May 3, 1767 in Sellnrod; † January 4, 1813 in Nidda). Ludwig Thudichum married Susanne Jakobe Henriette Luise née Breidenstein, daughter of the court preacher Georg Breidenstein , on September 2, 1827 in Homburg .

Life

Ludwig Thudichum studied Protestant theology at the University of Giessen from 1815 to 1819 . During his studies he became a member of the Teutsche Lesegesellschaft / Teutonia Gießen in 1815 and in 1819 of the old Gießen fraternity Germania . He joined the Giessen blacks under Karl Follen . An investigation has been launched against him for his fraternity activities. In 1825 he was parish assistant and consistorial assessor in Rödelheim and from 1827 pastor and spiritual inspector there. From 1833 to 1863 he worked as dean in Rödelheim.

From 1833 he was interrogated several times by the federal central authority, arrested in 1835 and mentioned in the Black Book for "helping political assassins escape " because he had helped his brother-in-law Friedrich Breidenstein, who had taken part in the Frankfurt Wachensturm , escape. In 1838 he was acquitted by the Giessen court for lack of evidence .

politics

From 1851 to 1856 he was an elected member of the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the 15th to 17th electoral term (1856–1863) he was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the estates he represented the constituency of Upper Hesse 13 / Vilbel .

Honors

Thudichumstrasse in Frankfurt-Rödelheim is named after him.
