history

A Schwaighof on site (permanently settled alpine pasture, today's blacksmith's shop) is documented in 1307, when an Otto der Karlinger donated it to Stams monastery "to give bread and cheese to the poor". Mösern was an important junction of the cart paths in the wood-rich areas around Seefeld and in the Leutasch Valley , and especially on the long-distance route via Scharnitz into the Bavarian region.

The place name stands for moss 'wetland'.

Culture and sights

Peace bell

The Affiliate Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary is a baroque local church with altar leaves by the painter Paul Zeiller from 1701.

The chapel on Kalvarienberg dates from around 1830 and shows a crucifixion group, with minor figures painted on boards and wall paintings in the background. Like 10 of the former 8, since 1989 11 wayside shrines, they are under monument protection ( Kalvarienbergkapelle , 10 Kalvarienbergkapelle ) . On the way from Telfs up via Birkenberg there are several other chapels and landmarks.

The peace bell of the Alpine region hangs in Mösern , erected in 1997 for the 25th anniversary of the ARGE Alp to symbolize the solidarity of the Alpine region .

Nature and tourism

The place belongs to the tourist region Olympiaregion Seefeld and appears together with beeches as Mösern-Buchen .

The Möserer See lies north of the village . It is mentioned in Maximilian I's fishing book as early as 1500 . The peace bells hiking trail leads as a themed trail to and around the lake.

Numerous other hiking trails lead to the area around the Seefeld plateau, to the Lottensee , a periodic moorland, in the northwest, and to the Möserer Höhe (summit 1474  m above sea level ) and Brunschkopf ( 1510  m above sea level ) in the north, and further on to the also periodic Wildmoossee and the Wildmoosalm ( Wildmoos area ). Head northeast towards Seefeld and east towards Auland . Several paths also lead up from the valley, from Telfs, from Kellertal and Tiefental - Leiblfing , as well as Eigenhofen and Zirl .

Directly to the east lies the Gschwandtkopf  ( 1495  m above sea level ), a small ski mountain that is accessible from the Möserer side with drag lifts and from the Seefeld side also by chair lift .
From Seefeld there is a three kilometer long, illuminated night trail .

With 27 ascents on an approximately 6 km long route with 551 meters of altitude in Telfs, from Sagl to Mösern, Wolfgang Mader set a 48-hour altitude record on a racing bike in 2011, which was broken in 2012 by Jacob Zurl near Graz.
