The Roman Catholic Maria-Hilf chapel in Tauberbischofsheim in the Main-Tauber district was built in 1700 and consecrated to St. Mary in her role as helper .

history

The pharmacist and councilor Johann Henrich Ludwig Staub, who was considered a great admirer of Mary, founded the small Maria-Hilf chapel in 1700. Today the Maria-Hilf-Kirche belongs to the pastoral care unit Tauberbischofsheim, which is assigned to the deanery Tauberbischofsheim of the Archdiocese of Freiburg .

The Maria-Hilf-Chapel was built at the beginning of the 18th century between the upper city gate of the old city fortifications and today's Sonnenplatz. The chapel was outside the gate and in front of it a ditch dug around the city. Today the upper part of the Tauberbischofsheimer pedestrian zone is in front of the chapel. The chapel is directly opposite the Sparkasse Tauberfranken .

Church building and equipment

The Maria-Hilf-Chapel was built as a baroque church. The front is characterized by a curved gable and the column portal with a blown gable.
