Martin Sasse (pianist)

Martin Sasse (born March 2, 1968 in Hamm / Westphalia ) is a German jazz pianist , keyboardist and composer .

Live and act

Sasse studied from 1989 to 1990 at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen (classical music) and from 1990 to 1998 at the Musikhochschule Köln (jazz, concert exam with distinction). From 1988 to 1990 he played in the JugendJazzOrchester NRW and from 1990 to 1993 in the Bundesjazzorchester under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer .

From 1992 to 1996 he taught at the " Open House Jazz School Cologne ", from 1998 to 2008 he was a lecturer at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz for jazz piano and combo. Since autumn 2008 he has been a lecturer in jazz piano at the Institute for Media and Music at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf .

Martin Sasse has been working a. a. with Al Foster , the New York Voices , Jimmy Cobb , Steve Grossman , Hiram Bullock , Peter Bernstein , Vincent Herring , Roberta Gambarini , Silvia Droste , Bobby McFerrin / Bochumer Symphoniker (2010), Till Brönner , Tommy Emmanuel , Tom Gäbel , Dick Oatts , Dennis Mackrel , Nadja Schubert , Philip Catherine , Dusko Goykovich , Milan Lulic , Billy Cobham , Sting / Bochumer Symphoniker , Jan Akkerman and the WDR Rundfunkorchester (2012), John Ruocco and the Brian Hughes Band, Steve Grossman, Scott Hamilton or Rick Margitza .

With his trio he played a. a. 2008 and 2011 at the Ruhr Piano Festival . In 2010 he performed his solo piano program at the Lucerne Festival .
