Massimo Girotti

Massimo Girotti (born May 18, 1918 in Mogliano near Macerata , † January 5, 2003 in Rome ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Girotti first studied engineering and was a successful water polo and swimming star . In 1939 he switched to film. He quickly became a leading performer in Italy, not least because of his good looks and sportiness. He starred in films by Roberto Rossellini , Luchino Visconti and Vittorio De Sica . In the 1950s Girotti starred in many historical - sandals - monumental - and religious films. In the 1960s he continued to play mainly in this genre, but now increasingly in supporting roles. In the 1970s he was able to give life to high-profile minor characters in several important films. Between 1940 and 2003 Girotti played in around 120 film and television productions.
