Matoury is a French commune with 31,956 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the overseas department of French Guiana in South America.
Geography and traffic
Matoury is not far from the Atlantic coast, in the catchment area of the agglomeration of the capital and at the same time the largest city of French Guiana, Cayenne . The only international airport of French Guiana, the Aéroport international Félix Éboué ( known as Aéroport international de Rochambeau until 2012 ) is located in the municipality . It is located 13.5 km southwest of Cayenne. There are road links to Cayenne, Remire-Montjoly , Régina and Kourou .

With 31,956 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), Matoury is one of the largest municipalities in French Guiana. The population has increased significantly in recent years, thanks mainly to its favorable location in the agglomeration of Cayenne. In 1999 the population was around 18,000.
