Mauro Maur
Mauro Maur (born August 8, 1958 in Servola, Trieste ) is an Italian trumpeter and composer and has been solo trumpeter at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome since 1985 .
Life
Mauro Maur began his musical career in the music band of his home parish Servola. At a very young age he graduated from the Conservatory in Trieste and then studied with Pierre Thibaud at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris . While still a student at the Conservatory, he won the audition for trumpet at the National Orchestra of Toulouse under conductor Michel Plasson , with whom he toured America, Canada, Austria, Germany and Italy. At the age of 18 he worked with well-known organists and chamber orchestras and played at festivals. He studied at Northwestern University in Chicago with A. Herseth, V. Cichowicz and A. Jacobs.
In 1981 he won first prize at the international trumpet competition in Toulon, in 1982 the unanimous Premier Prix at the Conservatoire Nationale Superieur de Paris, the competitions in Lille (France), Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (Italy). He played in many well-known concert halls, including Carnegie Hall , Lincoln Center , Hollywood Bowl , Boston Symphony Hall , Semperoper , Herkulessaal , Wiener Konzerthaus and at the Salzburg Festival . He especially played works by Tartini, Albinoni, Haydn, Hummel, Telemann, Morricone, Piccioni, Rota and Jolivet.
At the age of less than 30 he was already playing in many cities around the world, engaged with the I Solisti Veneti under the direction of Claudio Scimone, Ennio Morricone , with whom he made numerous recordings. Mikis Theodorakis , Riz Ortolani , Jerry Goldsmith and Georges Delerue wrote pieces for him and hired him for film music. He works on modern trumpet literature and compositions written for him by Bussotti, Clementi, Vlad, Mannino, Dashow.
Maurizio Costanzo invited him several times to his show, including Marzullo and Rispoli. He played at the state funeral of Federico Fellini , with whom he was linked in friendship and cooperation, and at the funeral of Giulietta Masina .
Maur has received invitations to master classes from the Tchaikosvky Conservatory in Moscow, as well as from McGill University in Montreal, the Youth Orchestra of the Americas and the Conservatories of Palermo, Florence, Rome. He was a lecturer at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome for the courses of the Biennium Superiore.
Maur has worked with Ars Nova, Ircam von Paris, the Budapest Chamber Orchestra, the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano and with conductors such as Riccardo Muti , Leonard Bernstein , Ozawa, Boulez, Maazel as well as musicians such as Plácido Domingo , Tony Scott , Oscar Valdambrini , Paquito D ' Rivera or Gloria Gaynor . At the request of the President of the Council of Ministers, Mauro Maur was registered as a cavalier of the order "Al Merito della Repubblica Italiana".
