Max Strassberg

Max Strassberg (born October 14, 1913 in Vienna , † July 17, 1968 in Hamburg ; occasionally also listed as Max Straßberg ) was an Austrian actor and radio play speaker .

Life

Max Strassberg played from 1945 to 1949 in Vienna at the cabaret “Der liebe Augustin” founded by Stella Kadmon in 1931 and at the New Theater in der Scala . From 1949 engagements followed at various stages in Berlin .

From the mid-1950s onwards, Max Strassberg was increasingly involved in various film and television productions .

These included the 1958 entertainment film And in the evening in the Scala by Erik Ode with Caterina Valente , Gerhard Riedmann and Ruth Stephan and in 1962 a free adaptation of the Threepenny Opera based on the play by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill , directed by Wolfgang Staudte with Curd Jürgens , Hildegard Knef and Gert Frobe . The 1958 feature film A song goes around the world occupies a special position . The film, directed by Géza von Bolváry , deals with the life of the Jewish tenor Joseph Schmidt . Max Strassberg presented himself here, because Joseph Schmidt died in his arms on November 16, 1942 in Switzerland . Hans Reiser , Theo Lingen and Karl Lieffen played alongside Max Strassberg . The connection to Joseph Schmidt was also the subject of the 1958 television documentary by Theo Mezger and Helmut Pigge, The Beautiful Voice , in which Max Strassberg told of his encounters with Joseph Schmidt in Switzerland.

From the 1960s onwards, Max Strassberg could be seen as an actor in numerous television productions such as Das Kriminalmuseum , Die Fifth Kolonne , Commissioner Freytag , Hafenpolizei and Police Radio calls . Furthermore, Max Strassberg embodied Mr. von Feldstein in 1960 in the television adaptation of the play The Dreams of Shell and Core by Johann Nestroy , directed by Imo Moszkowicz with Hilde Volk , Hans Putz and Ida Krottendorf, and in 1961 he appeared in an episode of the three-part crime comedy series Macky Pancake on.
