Maximilian von Engelbrechten
Maximilian Friedrich Georg von Engelbrechten (born July 2, 1851 in Neustadt am Rübenberge , † February 12, 1911 ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .
Life
origin
He came from the 1728 ennobled family Engelbrechten . His parents were the Hanoverian lieutenant colonel Karl von Engelbrechten (1821–1907) and Sophie von Hattdorf (1820–1903). The Prussian infantry general George von Engelbrechten (1855-1935) was his younger brother.
Military career
Engelbrechten attended secondary school in Hanover and high schools in Hameln and Osnabrück before joining the 6th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 55 of the Prussian Army on May 10, 1869 . He took part with the regiment in the Franco-German War , in particular in the Battle of Colombey and the battles near Saarbrücken and Forbach . Before Metz he was seriously wounded and received the Iron Cross, 2nd class.
On September 20, 1870 Engelbrechten was promoted to Second Lieutenant and was adjutant of the Fusilier Battalion from April 17, 1872 to October 1, 1876 . From October 1, 1876 to July 24, 1880 he was commanded to the War Academy , was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on August 12, 1879 , and was a regimental adjutant from February 12, 1881 to May 24, 1885. With transfer and position à la suite of the 8th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 57 , he was then commanded as adjutant to the Ulm governorate . He was promoted to captain on June 13, 1885 and was then assigned to the regiment as a company commander on January 12, 1886 . On March 22, 1887, Engelbrechten was transferred to the Lower Rhine Fusilier Regiment No. 39 and on March 24, 1890 to the newly established Infantry Regiment No. 140 . As early as September 20, 1890 he was commanded as adjutant to the 4th Division and rose to major on May 17, 1892 . Released from his command as battalion commander, he was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 24 on September 14, 1893 . When commissioned with the functions of a regular staff officer, he was reassigned to Infantry Regiment No. 49 on November 25, 1898 . On December 17, 1898, Engelbrechten was promoted to lieutenant colonel. His promotion to colonel on March 18, 1901 took place at the same time as he was appointed commander of Infantry Regiment No. 79 . On July 20, 1904 he rose to major general and was commander of the 36th Infantry Brigade in Rendsburg . On March 22, 1906 Engelbrechten was transferred to the officers of the army and 1907 award of the character as a lieutenant general for disposition made.

He married Frieda Hesse (1860–1924) in Hildesheim in 1881 , with whom he had four children:
