Michael Haynes (born March 15, 1981 ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Haynes played briefly on the American continent as a professional in Europe, including more than one season in Israel , Spain and the German basketball league , in which he played for the Württemberg first division team Walter Tigers Tübingen from 2008 to 2010 and EnBW Ludwigsburg was active. In 2011, Haynes won the championship in the NBA Development League (D-League) with Iowa Energy . Most recently, Haynes was subclass active in Israel.

Career

Haynes moved from Columbia (South Carolina) in 2000 to study at Fordham University in New York City , where he played for the university team Rams in the Atlantic 10 Conference of the NCAA . With the less successful college team he was able to distinguish himself in his last two college seasons as the best point collector and rebounder of the team. However, the Rams could not place themselves in the front of the conference or qualify for a postseason tournament in the NCAA.

In 2004, Haynes tried his hand at professionalism and signed a contract with the Israeli first division club Bnei from Herzlia in the Ligat ha'Al . He then played the following season for the Spanish second division club Aguas de Calpe in the LEB Oro , which, however, as penultimate in the "play-downs" missed relegation against Ciudad de Huelva . In the 2006/07 season he was then active in the first Polish league PLK for AZS from Koszalin , which, however, missed entry into the play-offs for the championship in tenth place in the table . In the following season, Haynes first played for the French first division club Stade Clermontois from Clermont-Ferrand in the LNB Pro A , which, however, had only achieved four wins of the season in 30 games at the end of the season as bottom of the table. Haynes had already left the club at the turn of the year and from January 2008 played again in the second Spanish division, this time for Alerta Cantabria Lobos from Santander . This club had missed promotion to the ACB league as the main round first in the preseason in the play-offs . In the 2007/08 season they stumbled sportily and economically and were able to achieve direct relegation as 14th only because of the better direct comparison . Subsequently, Cantabria Lobos had to return the license for economic reasons.

For the 2008/09 season , Haynes got a contract with German first division club Walter Tigers from Tübingen in the basketball league , in which his former teammate from the NCAA Jermaine Anderson played. The Tigers achieved four wins more than in the previous season and were able to secure relegation on the final 14th place in the table. He then moved together with Richard Chaney to the regional league competitor from Ludwigsburg , after Tübingen's coach Tolga Öngören had already gone to this club. On the eleventh final place he missed the qualification for the play-off final round of the German championship with the club in the basketball Bundesliga 2009/10 . A highlight of the season was the winning “ Buzzer Beater ” by Haynes in the local derby against his ex-club Tübingen at the beginning of November 2009, after he had already had a successful “ shot block ” in the final minute .

For the 2010/11 season Haynes got no new contract in the Bundesliga and played in the D-League for Iowa Energy from Des Moines . With this team, in which the later Bundesliga players Marqus Blakely and Kyle Weaver played, he won the first championship for this " franchise " in the finals against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers , where he was able to achieve an average double-digit point yield. After playing in Venezuela at the end of the season, he returned to Europe for the 2011/12 season and played in the Ethias League for the Dragons in Ghent, Belgium , with Richard Chaney, among others. The Dragons reached a seventh place among nine teams at the end of the season and then withdrew from the closed league. Haynes was initially active in the Dominican Republic in the summer before returning to Israel.
