Michael Lantieri
Michael "Mike" Lantieri (* 13. August 1954 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American VFX Supervisor , the 1994 Jurassic Park the Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects received.
Life
He grew up in Los Angeles and went to school with Ron Howard . He studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and the University of California, Los Angeles . From 1974 he worked for Universal Studios on television series such as The Six Million Dollar Man and Battle Star Galactica . He also helped build Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean attraction from 1974 to 1981 . In 1982 he was responsible for the special effects for the dance film Flashdance for the first time.
After 10 years he left Universal Studios and subsequently worked on films such as Star Trek IV: Back to the Present , Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Back to the Future II , for which he won an Oscar in the category Best Visual in 1990 Effects was nominated. He developed some of the most amazing and sophisticated mechanical special effects in modern films in the years that followed. These included the flight sequences in Hook and the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park , for which he received the Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects in 1994 together with Dennis Muren , Stan Winston and Phil Tippett . He was also nominated for an Oscar for the films Hook , Forgotten World: Jurassic Park and AI - Artificial Intelligence .
In 1999 he made his directorial debut with Komodo - The Living Terror , an animal horror film. So far there has been no further work as a director.
He is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees .
