Michael Raphael Klein (* 1981 in Munich ) is a German actor .

Life

Training and beginnings

Michael Raphael Klein, born in Munich, grew up in Essen . Originally, Klein, who already enjoyed painting and drawing as a child, wanted to study art , but then decided to take up acting.

After graduating from high school (2001) at the Odenwaldschule Oberhambach and training as a carpenter and carpenter , which he completed with a journeyman's certificate in 2002 , Klein studied drama at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main from 2003 to summer 2007 . During his training he already had guest engagements at the Staatstheater Kassel (October 2006, as Theodor in Liebelei ) and at the independent theater Künstlerhaus Mousonturm (December 2006). After graduating in acting with a diploma, he played in a production at the Schauspiel Frankfurt in the summer of 2007 .

Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season, Klein received a two-year permanent engagement at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern , where he was part of the ensemble until the beginning of 2010. There, Klein appeared in numerous roles in the classical and modern theater repertoire. He had his first major success there in the 2007/08 season in the play Monsieur Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran , in which Klein spoke and played all parts of the play in one version as a theatrical monologue.

His stage roles at the Theater Kaiserslautern included u. a. the young, beautiful nobleman Christian de Neuvillette, who has his love poems written by the title hero, in Cyrano de Bergerac (premiere: 2007/08 season), Ferdinand in Kabale und Liebe (premiere: 2008/09 season), Sir Mordred in Merlin or The desert land (premiere: 2008/09 season, director: Murat Yeginer ), the "fidgety patient" Martini in One flew over the cuckoo's nest (premiere: 2008/09 season) and Jonathan, the elder of the two brothers, in The Lionheart Brothers after Astrid Lindgren (premiere: 2009/10 season).

In the 2009/10 season he played the "honest-honest" Swiss Cheese in Brecht -Stück Mother Courage and Her Children ; under the direction of Michael Lerchenberg , Klein put on the role of the Courage son as a "number-obsessed autistic ". In the 2009/10 season he was also, at the side of Andrea Cleven (as a guest), the alcoholic millionaire son Brick in Tennessee Williams ' play The Cat on the Hot Tin Roof (Director: Ina Annett Keppel ).

Bad Vilbel Castle Festival

After his two-year contract at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern had expired, Klein first went to Australia for a one-year professional break , where he earned his living with various jobs.

In the summer of 2010 he resumed his stage career. He appeared in the role of Mariolino, the son of an impoverished farmer, in a stage version by Don Camillo and Peppone for the first time at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival . In the following years he appeared regularly at the Bad Vilbel Festival. In 2011 he was the robber Spiegelberg in the Schiller drama The Robbers .

In 2013 and 2014 he appeared again at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival. He was Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet and the student Jack Chasney in the comedy Charley's Aunt , had great success in 2014 and 2015 as an email love letter writer Leo Leike in Daniel Glattauer's Gut gegen Nordwind ; a role that he also played in the sequel All Seven Waves . In 2016 he took on the male lead role at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival in Moonlight Tariff based on the novel by Ildikó von Kürthy ; he was also the robber Klein-Klipp in the family play Ronja the robber's daughter .

In 2017, at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival, he embodied the juggler Staubfinger in a production of the fantasy novel Inkheart and the "snappy" lover Silvio in the Goldoni comedy The Servant of Two Masters .

Further engagements

In the 2011/12 season, Klein appeared again at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern. In the 2012/13 season he appeared at the Grenzlandtheater Aachen as Lysander in a Midsummer Night's Dream production by Ulrich Wiggers .

In the 2013/14 season he returned to the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern for the lead role of the cat in the world premiere of the children's play Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten by Nina Büttner (scholarship holder of the Else Lasker-Schüler-Play Prize).

In 2014 he appeared in the Orestie von Aischylos at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern .

Film, television, advertising

Klein also took on film and TV roles. In the RTL - Dramedyserie Saint Maik (since 2018) he has a solid lead role as Dr. Sven Keizer; he was the ex-boyfriend of the main character Eva.

Klein played his first leading role on television in the ZDF “ Herzkino ” film A Summer in Oxford , which first aired in October 2018. At the side of Mira Bartuschek , he embodied the craftsman Daniel, in whom the main female character, the young historian Nina, finds a friend and soulmate. In the Inga Lindström film adaptation of Fire and Glass (first broadcast: January 2020) he played the male lead in the role of the “charismatic, unconventional” Stellan Vikander.

Klein was also featured in advertising campaigns for Ritter Sport and Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft .

Private

Klein is with the accordion virtuoso Alexandra Maas , winner a. a. of the German Accordion Music Prize, in a relationship. He lives in Kaiserslautern .
