Michael Herl

Michael "Michi" Herl (born December 9, 1959 in Pirmasens ) is a German journalist , author , television presenter , director , actor and documentary filmmaker .

Life

Herl attended the German School of Journalism in Munich from 1981 to 1982 . He then worked for Stern magazine in Hamburg and then worked in the editorial department in Frankfurt am Main . Herl has worked as a freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker since 1984: Herl wrote for the newspapers Geo , Süddeutsche Zeitung , Die Zeit , Merian , Zürcher Weltwoche and Frankfurter Rundschau and made TV reports and films for WDR , SWF , NDR , RAI ( Italy ) , Report Baden-Baden and Monitor . During this time, his work concentrated on the areas of the environment, social affairs and social policy, and Herl also reported from Asia at times. In 1984 Herl was instructed by Franz Alt , Report Baden-Baden, to be admitted to the closed department of a psychiatric institution and filmed there with a hidden camera. In 1986, Herl directed WAAhnsinn - Der Wackersdorf-Film , a film produced by Wim Wenders about the anti-WAAhnsinns festival against the nuclear reprocessing plant in Wackersdorf .

In 1996 Herl and Stephan Morgenstern published the slide essay Adonis and the car from Russia (music: Jannis Karis, speaker: Anne Bennent ), which he presented in around 100 cities. Since 1999 he has been seen four times a week as a co-presenter in the program Late Lounge of the hr-television and played as a supporting actor in episodes of the TV series Polizeiruf 110 , Die Kommissarin , Ein Fall für Zwei , as well as in the SAT 1 production A devil for the Engel family (director: Rolf Silber ) and the film 13 semesters . In 1998 Herl founded the Stalburg Theater , a stage with its own theater productions in the north end of Frankfurt, for which he contributes self-written pieces as artistic director. In 2005, Herl was dismissed from HR after 1400 broadcasts on Late Lounge because he had publicly criticized the planned suspension of the broadcast.

Herl has been writing a column for the Frankfurter Rundschau every Tuesday since 2012 .

All plays except “Waldweiberwildwechsel” were staged at the Stalburg Theater in Frankfurt. Whoever cooks doesn't also shoot in Bremen, Kassel, Göttingen and Dresden. "Brumm Brumm" premiered in September 2011 under the title Die Fleppen sind weg at the Wechselbad Theater in Dresden. Waldweiberwildwechsel premiered there on March 2nd, 2012, Jürgen von Nazareth was premiered on November 20th, 2012 in Dresden. The premiere of sex. Or so. was on September 5, 2013 in the Stalburg Theater.
