Mrkopalj is a village in the mountainous part of Croatia east of Rijeka in the historical region of Gorski Kotar ( Primorje-Gorski kotar County ). There are numerous hiking trails in the vicinity of Delnice. The people in the village live mainly from tourism and forestry. The village has 1214 inhabitants, the majority of whom are Croatians.

history

Mrkopalj was first mentioned in writing in 1477, when Martin Frankopan gave his property to Nikolaus, Damjan Drozgometski's son.
