Lopar (Italian Loparo ) is a village on the Croatian island of Rab in the Adriatic Sea . It belongs to the Primorje-Gorski kotar County .

The place got its name after the Marienkirche ( sta Maria Neopari ), which was mentioned as early as the 16th century. At Cape Punta Zidine there are wall remains of ancient fortifications. According to legend, the legendary founder of the Republic of San Marino , the stonemason Marin , was born in Lopar. The place has 1,263 inhabitants (2011 census). There are two churches in the village, the Church of St. John the Baptist and the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The village was originally characterized by agriculture and fishing . The houses of the residents are usually grouped on the slopes of the peninsula. Already in the 19th century it was a popular seaside resort due to its location and beaches.
