Čabar is a town in Primorje-Gorski kotar County in Croatia . It lies in the middle of the Gorski kotar , surrounded by forest on one side and hills on the other, on the border with Slovenia , separated from there only by the small river Čabranka .

history

Italian soldiers burned a village in Čabar County (1941).

The history of the city goes back to Roman times. During the Second World War it was occupied by Italy from 1941 to 1943 and was called Concanera .

population

Čabar has 3,770 inhabitants (2011 census), most of them Croatians . The population has been falling in recent years. The reason lies in deteriorating living conditions. Čabar has been related to Pula since 1974 .

climate

The summers are pleasant, the winters cold. Large areas of the city are green and overgrown with trees.

economy

Wood products and the wood industry as well as winter sports are economically important.
