Nöthnitz is a district of the city of Groitzsch in the district of Leipzig (Free State of Saxony ). The place was incorporated into Methewitz in 1948 . With this he came to Auligk in 1973 and to the city of Groitzsch in 1996.

Nöthnitz is located in the Leipzig lowland bay 3.5 kilometers south of Groitzsch. Nöthnitz was mentioned in a document in 1349 as "Nutenicz". The place name is of Slavic origin. The place belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office Pegau until 1856 . The manor over Nöthnitz lay with the Löbnitz manor , whose property was also referred to as "Löbnitzer Pflege". Nöthnitz was a Vorwerk of the Löbnitz manor. From 1856 the place belonged to the judicial office of Pegau and from 1875 to the district administration Borna .

On October 1, 1948, it was incorporated into Methewitz , with which the place came to the Borna district in the Leipzig district in 1952 . Methewitz with its two districts in turn was incorporated into Auligk on July 1, 1973 . As a district of Auligk, Nöthnitz was assigned to the Saxon district of Borna in 1990 and to the district of Leipziger Land in 1994 .
