NGC 2512 is a barred spiral galaxy with a high rate of star formation of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Cancer on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 207 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years across .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 10, 1787 .
