NGC 2505 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Lynx in the northern sky . It is around 438 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 150,000 light years .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on March 18, 1790 .
