NGC 3006 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is an estimated 215 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 2998 , NGC 3005 , NGC 3008 , NGC 3009 .
The object was discovered by Bindon Blood Stoney on January 25, 1851 .
