NGC 2985 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type (R) SA (rs) from the Great Bear constellation . It is estimated to be 64 million light years from the Milky Way .
NGC 2985 is located approximately 35 ′ east of the 5 mag star 27 Ursae Majoris .
The object was discovered on April 3, 1785 by William Herschel with a 48 cm telescope.
