NGC 2965 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 and is located in the constellation Little Leo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 300 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 105,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 2955 , NGC 2971 , IC 2500 .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on December 31, 1788 .
