NGC 2954 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 166 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter.
The Type Ia supernova SN 1993C was observed here.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on March 18, 1836 .
