NGC 2946 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type SB? in the constellation Leo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 396 million light years from the Milky Way and about 145,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 2933 , NGC 2934 , NGC 2941 , NGC 2943 .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on April 1, 1864 .
