NGC 3176 = PGC 29907? is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Water Snake. It is an estimated 140 million light years from the Milky Way .
NGC 3176 is an entry in the NGC catalog about a lost or nonexistent celestial body in the constellation Hydra. This object was taken in 1886 by the American astronomer Ormond Stone . Wolfgang Steinicke and the HyperLeda database identify NGC 3176 with the spiral galaxy PGC 29907. Professor Seligman also mentions this galaxy, but indicates that it is probably not an object in the NGC catalog. The SIMBAD database does not contain an entry for NGC 3176.
