NGC 3160 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type S in the constellation Little Leo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 309 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 120,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3152 , NGC 3158 , NGC 3159 , NGC 3161 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 1997C was observed here.
The object was discovered by RJ Mitchell on March 27, 1854 .
