NGC 3144 = NGC 3174 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is an estimated 294 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3147 and NGC 3155 .
The type IIb supernova SN 2008gx was observed here.
The object was discovered by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest on September 25, 1865 .
