NGC 3124 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 150 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light-years across. Together with five other galaxies, it forms the NGC 3091 group ( LGG 186 ).
The object was discovered by John Herschel on March 23, 1835 .
